GSI Technology Posts Wider Q1 Loss on Higher R&D Spending
GSI Technology reported a first-quarter fiscal 2027 net loss of 13 cents per share, wider than the 8-cent loss a year earlier, as rising research and development expenses drove operating costs higher. Revenue edged up 0.5% to $6.3 million, while gross margin fell to 53.4% from 58.1% due to product mix. Operating expenses jumped to $8.8 million from $5.8 million, resulting in an operating loss of $5.4 million compared with $2.2 million in the prior-year period. The company highlighted stable SRAM demand and progress in commercializing its Gemini-II AI platform, including a U.S. Army Phase II SBIR program and plans to release an AI-assisted software development kit in September. For the second quarter, GSI expects net revenue between $5.7 million and $6.5 million with gross margin of approximately 53% to 55%.
