Xenon plunges 27% on enrollment pause; Nucor and Steel Dynamics guide below consensus

Xenon Pharmaceuticals shares plunged 27% after the company paused enrollment in azetukalner studies for major depressive disorder and bipolar depression following reports of neuropsychiatric adverse events. Xenon said the events are consistent with the drug's known safety and tolerability profile and mechanism but had not previously been observed in its Phase 2 X-NOVA study in MDD, and it expects the pause to be temporary while it evaluates dosing adjustments; currently enrolled patients and those in open-label extension studies will continue treatment. The pause does not affect azetukalner studies in focal seizures or primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures, and Xenon has submitted an NDA to the FDA for focal seizures. Nucor fell 2% and Steel Dynamics fell 2% after both steelmakers issued Q3 earnings guidance below Wall Street expectations, with Nucor expecting Q3 earnings of $5.55-$5.65 per share versus the $5.99 consensus and Steel Dynamics expecting $5.34-$5.38 per share versus the $5.60 consensus. Intapp rose 3% after announcing a partnership with OpenAI to make Celeste, its expert AI coworker, available as a plug-in for ChatGPT Enterprise, with the plug-in available to eligible Intapp Celeste clients starting Thursday.

Intapp shares rise 4% on OpenAI partnership for ChatGPT Enterprise plug-in

Intapp shares perked up 4% during early post-market trading on Thursday after the company revealed a new partnership with OpenAI. Under the deal, Celeste, Intapp's expert AI coworker, is now a plug-in for ChatGPT Enterprise, bringing a legal firm's proprietary context and methods into the enterprise chatbot. Intapp provides software for highly regulated industries such as law, accounting, and investment banking. The Celeste plug-in for ChatGPT Enterprise is available to eligible Intapp Celeste clients starting today. Thad Jampol, co-founder and chief product officer at Intapp, said the law is the same for every firm, but what a firm knows about its clients, methods, matters, and judgment is its real franchise. Jason Boehmig, OpenAI's general manager of the legal industry, said building alongside Intapp turns that expertise into AI lawyers can use every day.

Intapp Bets on Governed AI for Law Firms

Intapp launched its agentic AI platform Celeste, which reached general availability on July 15, to address a key problem in law firms: generic AI assistants may reveal information to employees who are ethically walled off from it. CEO John Hall said the failure mode of a chatbot at a law firm is not hallucination but honesty, and Celeste is designed to know who is asking and enforce ethical walls, material nonpublic information rules, and independence requirements with an audit trail. Intapp's fiscal year ended June 30 with cloud annual recurring revenue of $495.7 million, up 29% year over year, total ARR of $590.5 million, up 22%, and adjusted net income of $103.6 million. The number of clients paying more than $1 million a year grew from 109 to 142, and Microsoft co-sold eight of the 10 biggest deals. At a $3.07 billion market cap, Intapp trades around 5.3 times sales and 20.4 times forward earnings estimates, with management seeing a $50 billion addressable market for agentic professional services software.

Moody's partners with Intapp to embed risk data inside AI workflows

Moody's and Intapp announced a partnership on July 14, 2026 to embed Moody's financial intelligence into Intapp's AI-powered professional workflow platform. The integration uses an open standard protocol to connect AI agents with Moody's risk data, entity screening, and company information inside client workflows, aiming to make Moody's datasets more accessible within day-to-day decision tools used by professional and financial services firms. This move shifts Moody's from being a data provider to being embedded inside workflows, potentially deepening client reliance on its risk intelligence and making its services harder to substitute versus competitors such as S&P Global and MSCI. The partnership also highlights execution risk, as client adoption and usage patterns sit partly outside Moody's direct control, and the open standard Model Context Protocol angle adds a distribution layer that existing narratives may not fully reflect yet.
