It has two segments: Production, which originates, acquires, and sells loans and sources residential conventional and government-insured or guaranteed mortgage loans through correspondent production, consumer direct lending, and broker direct lending; and Servicing, which handles loan administration, collections, and default management, including payment collection and remittance, customer inquiries, principal and interest accounting, custodial funds for property taxes and insurance premiums, counseling for delinquent borrowers, loss mitigation such as modification and forbearance programs, and supervision of foreclosures and property dispositions. The company was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Westlake Village, California.

KBRA has assigned preliminary ratings to 47 classes of mortgage-backed notes from PMT Loan Trust 2026-CNF8, a prime RMBS transaction sponsored by PennyMac Corp., an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of PennyMac Mortgage Investment Trust.
