It was formerly known as Consortium of Precision Industries, Inc. and changed its name to CPI Aerostructures, Inc. in July 1992; it was incorporated in 1980 and is headquartered in Edgewood, New York.

CPI Aerostructures received a fully definitized $13.6 million contract from L3Harris Technologies to deliver airborne pod structures for the Next Generation Jammer Low Band program. The award replaces a previously announced undefinitized contract action that had a not-to-exceed value of $12.1 million. CPI Aero will supply pods that L3Harris is building as operational prototypes for the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command, supporting fleet assessment and airworthiness testing on the EA-18G Growler.
