Critical Metals Wins Greenland Approval for Tanbreez Rare Earth Mine

Critical Metals Corp. shares rose 13% Monday morning after the company said it received formal mining approvals from the Government of Greenland for its Tanbreez Mine, valid through 2050. The Government of Greenland approved the Mining Plan and Closure Plan for the Tanbreez Project, one of the world's largest heavy rare earth deposits, located in Southern Greenland. The approvals, signed by Minister Múte B. Egede on September 29, 2026, establish a framework for approximately 24 years of permitted operations under the company's existing exploitation licence. They cover the extraction of 19 critical elements, including the heavy rare earths terbium, dysprosium and yttrium, as well as the magnet metals neodymium and praseodymium. The remaining step before construction can begin is obtaining activity-specific operating permits under sections 120 and 121 of the Greenland Mineral Activities Act, covering environmental management, marine transport, health and safety, and the export and sale of minerals. The approvals were granted to the company's Greenlandic subsidiary, Tanbreez Mining Greenland A/S, under Exclusive Licence No. 2020-54, which covers mineral exploitation at Killavaat Alannguat, between Narsaq and Qaqortoq in Southwest Greenland.

Critical Metals Shares Jump 39.5% on US-Greenland Security Agreement

Critical Metals shares surged 39.5% in late-morning trading after President Trump announced a security agreement among the United States, Denmark, and Greenland that will allow the U.S. to expand its military presence in Greenland while barring U.S. adversaries from developing military bases there. The rare-earth stock had fallen about 20% over the previous six months as of this past Friday, and today's move pares back some of that loss. Critical Metals is developing the Tanbreez Rare Earth Project in Greenland, which the company describes as one of the world's largest rare-earth deposits and which carries a high concentration of heavy rare-earth elements used in defense systems, advanced magnets, and precision electronics. The company does not expect to commence ore production until late 2028 or early 2029.

USA Rare Earth Rises on China Supply Freeze, Then Retreats

USA Rare Earth shares rose 4% to $18.35 before falling back to $17.70, as Chinese suppliers reportedly refused to ship rare earth materials to U.S. customers, highlighting the need for a domestic supply chain. The company completed its merger with Serra Verde Group on September 3, giving it scaled heavy rare earth production in Brazil, and Thras Moraitis, former CEO of Serra Verde, will succeed Barbara Humpton as CEO on October 1. China accounts for 70% of global rare earth mining and 90% of processing, and the Trump administration has finalized a $1.55 billion funding package to develop domestic supply chains. Peers MP Materials and Critical Metals are also affected, with Critical Metals' Greenland project still pre-production. A Xi Jinping visit to Washington on September 24 could influence rare earth licensing policies.

Chinese Rare Earth Suppliers Halt U.S. Shipments

Some rare earth suppliers in China are declining to ship to the U.S. for fear of repercussions from the Chinese government, a problem that has been added to the U.S. planning agenda ahead of President Xi's planned September 24 visit to Washington, Reuters reported Friday. The suppliers have refused shipments since early August, when China imposed sanctions on the Responsible Business Alliance, a U.S. supply chain monitor, following earlier stoppages by other Chinese companies to avoid geopolitical entanglement. In response, shares of Critical Metals rose 6.2%, USA Rare Earth gained 4.9%, MP Materials advanced 3.5%, Energy Fuels climbed 2.8%, and Cameco added 1%. An unnamed U.S. official said the Trump administration continues to press Chinese counterparts to honor commitments made in Busan and Beijing over the past year to ensure smooth rare earth export licensing. While exports of many rare earths and related magnets have rebounded since China's April 2025 restrictions, prices for certain materials with military or sensitive applications, such as yttrium, indium phosphide, and tungsten, remain near record highs with tight supply.

Critical Metals Spikes 19% on European Lithium Deal Positioning

Critical Metals stock jumped 19% to $7.91 on Tuesday as traders positioned around its pending $835 million purchase of European Lithium, while the VanEck Rare Earth and Strategic Metals ETF fell 2% to $78.29. MP Materials rose just 1% to $58.09 and United States Antimony gained 2% to $5.21, ruling out any broad sector or policy catalyst behind the move. No confirmed company announcement was identified, leaving the European Lithium deal as the most plausible driver for the pre-revenue mining developer, whose Wolfsberg lithium project is not expected to produce until 2028 or 2029. Critical Metals carries a beta of 1.9, going-concern language in its filings, and 42.9% insider ownership that keeps the float thin and amplifies swings.

Critical Metals Corp. launches strategic review to focus on Tanbreez rare earth project

Critical Metals Corp. has retained Clear Street as financial advisor to evaluate value-maximizing pathways for its non-core assets, aiming to sharpen focus on its flagship Tanbreez rare earth project in Greenland. The review will consider spin-offs, asset sales, joint ventures, or other transactions to monetize legacy and non-core holdings while accelerating Tanbreez, one of the world's largest rare earth deposits. Chairman Tony Sage stated that concentrating on Tanbreez is the clearest path to long-term shareholder value, positioning the company as a premier Western source of heavy rare earths. White & Case LLP is serving as legal advisor. There is no assurance the process will result in a specific transaction, and the company does not plan to disclose further developments until board approval.

Critical Metals and European Lithium amend merger implementation mechanics

Critical Metals and European Lithium have amended their Scheme Implementation Deed for Critical Metals' proposed acquisition of European Lithium, modifying specific implementation mechanics while keeping existing commercial and economic terms intact. European Lithium shareholders and listed optionholders holding 50,000 or fewer European Lithium shares or listed options on the applicable record date will be eligible to participate in a sale facility, through which an appointed agent will sell the Critical Metals common shares on the open market and distribute the net cash proceeds to eligible holders in lieu of the shares. The companies continue to work toward satisfying remaining conditions to complete the transaction, with European Lithium expecting to distribute its Scheme Booklet, including an Independent Expert's Report, in late July or early August 2026. Upon completion, existing European Lithium shareholders are expected to own approximately 41% of the outstanding common shares of the combined company.

Critical Metals begins 10,000m diamond drilling at Tanbreez rare earth project

Critical Metals has commenced a 10,000-metre diamond drilling programme at its wholly owned Tanbreez Rare Earth Project in southern Greenland. The drilling targets key mineralised zones identified in earlier exploration and is intended to support resource growth, geological modelling, mine planning, and future development. Essential accommodation and operational support infrastructure has been completed, with contractors and drill rigs now positioned across target areas. Field teams will spend the next two to three weeks verifying ground conditions and marking blast sites, while ongoing tasks include geological mapping, surface verification, and environmental monitoring. Data from the 2026 campaign is expected to underpin resource updates and feasibility studies for what the company describes as one of the largest undeveloped rare earth projects globally, with significant concentrations of heavy rare earth elements used in permanent magnets, electric vehicles, and defence systems.
