Armata Gets FDA Agreement on Pediatric Plan for AP-SA02 in SAB

Armata Pharmaceuticals announced that the U.S. FDA has agreed to its Initial Pediatric Study Plan for AP-SA02, a bacteriophage therapeutic for complicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia. The plan allows Armata to defer pediatric studies until adult safety and efficacy data are available from the planned Phase 3 program, expected to begin in the second half of 2026. Following the adult study, a single multicenter open-label pediatric trial will assess safety, tolerability, and clinical outcomes. AP-SA02 has received Qualified Infectious Disease Product and Fast Track designations from the FDA, and positive Phase 2a results were presented at IDWeek 2025. Armata's stock closed Friday at $4.26, down 11.80%, and was at $4.32 in pre-market trading, up 1.41%.
